As part of Ken Burns and Lynn Novick’s The Vietnam War, WETA offered 30 grants to PBS member stations around the country. Nolpix Media wrote a grant proposal on behalf of East Tennessee PBS, which received a grant from Burns’ organization. In addition, Nolpix received a second grant from Humanities Tennessee.
A True American:
During the Vietnam War, African-Americans heeded the call to duty. Follow the journey of 5 veterans from East Tennessee as they encounter the enemy overseas and their own struggles back home. Get to know these local heroes and discover why each can be called “A True American.”
